A total of 13 million CZK donated

100 women and children
from Ukraine

From the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, we have been helping where it is needed. With the outbreak of aggression in Ukraine, we organised a fundraising campaign, from which we have been continuously distributing almost CZK 13 million. Our employees have also joined the fundraiser, sending more than CZK 2 million in the first few days.

After our Chairman of the Board, Martin Diviš, published an appeal to help our Ukrainian colleagues, we were immediately contacted by Ukrainians. The main goal was to prepare free accommodation for the refugees and get them safely to Czechia. In our accommodation capacities in several locations in the country, we welcomed more than a hundred people from VIG's sister insurance companies in Ukraine. We have newly equipped our housing facilities with the needs of families with children in mind. In the first phase, we also assisted with the move to Czechia, including commuting to the border. We hired two new part-time colleagues with Ukrainian language skills to help us overcome the language barrier.

more

We are also a financial partner of the Via Foundation grant "From Ukraine Among Us" aimed at integration into Czech society.

We have been supporting the families all along and we have also organised joint meetings at Kooperativa, thanks to which the newcomers could get used to the new environment, got to know each other and supported each other. In our premises, we offered regular psychological help, individual as well as group therapy with a psychologist from Ukraine who understood refugees well because she herself went through war trauma. Furthermore, they were also connected to psychologists from https://www.terapie.cz/. We assisted with visas, finding a doctor, and are still addressing other individual needs of adults and children. We supplied food from the cafeteria, groceries, drug supplies and other material support including prepaid card phones, clothes or toys, all from our staff's material collections or other sources.

We have arranged free individual Czech language courses for children and adults at Kooperativa. Those interested could take a retraining course for a social services worker for easier job placement. We also had a friendly mentoring programme in which a family of employees supports a particular family from Ukraine. These families then meet together and go on holiday trips.

Prevention
Prevention is the starting point of our strategic CSR pyramid, on which all other activities are based. We understand prevention as the avoidance of adverse situations in all areas of insurance – property and liability, personal and car insurance, and elsewhere.
In 2022, we continued our efforts in the area of road accident prevention with the project of the VISION 0 Platform, which aims for zero fatalities and serious injuries on Czech roads. We participated in changes in the education of young drivers, implemented dozens of road safety prevention projects, financed the removal of risk spots together with the ŠKODA AUTO Foundation and continued to develop joint activities with our partners to increase safety on Czech roads.
In 2022, we also launched a new service offered by Kooperativa, which aims to prevention in the field of property insurance while making a positive contribution to climate change.
VISION 0 Platform
In 2018, the Kooperativa Foundation established the VISION 0 Platform, which functions as a non-commercial community of entities that mutually support each other, coordinate projects, and share information and experience. The aim of this platform is to achieve systemic and conceptual changes in the field of transport safety.

#NALADSENACESTU / #TUNEINFORTHEJOURNEY
With the band ČECHOMOR, we have launched the 2022 campaign Nalaďte se s námi na cestu/Tune in with Us on the Road to educate the public on the journey to prepare for the road to avoid transferring anxiety or even aggression behind the wheel. Through communications on social media, in the media and at concerts, we reached more than two million people in 2022.
YOUNG DRIVERS AND DRIVERS-BEGINNERS
In 2022, we supported a number of projects related to one of the riskiest groups in traffic −young drivers and drivers-beginners.
CYCLISTS AND MOTORCYCLISTS
We support projects aimed at the vulnerable group of cyclists and motorcyclists.
SENIORS
We contribute to the safety of drivers over the age of 65 by offering them safe driving courses as well as playful theatre lectures.
NERISKUJ KRK/DON'T RISK YOUR NECK
We do not risk our necks. We raise awareness about the whiplash syndrome, its early diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
OTHER PROJECTS
We educate emergency services drivers. We strive to increase traffic safety by modifying road signs.
MEDIA COVERAGE OF KEY TRAFFIC SAFETY TOPICS
We participate in intensive communication and media coverage of key traffic safety topics.
Other activities
Telematics
In 2022, we continued to gain expertise in telematics, a technology that enables us to assess driver behaviour on the road and then provide him with feedback.
Asociace záchranný kruh/Rescue Circle Association
The Rescue Circle Association delivers preventive education projects that can save lives.
Weather warning
For our clients who have arranged property insurance, we offer a unique service called Meteovarování free of charge. This can determine the possible risk of adverse weather - hail, windstorm or torrential rain - according to the location of the insured property.
Prevention Programme for a more resilient landscape
In 2022 we piloted the Prevention Programme for a more resilient landscape. The aim of this programme is to increase the resilience of the landscape to flash floods through landscape measures close to nature and thus contribute to the adaptation of the Czech landscape to climate change.
Programme principle: We identify our insured municipalities with a high risk of flooding and then offer to pay for a feasibility study by landscape experts from the Water, People, Landscape Association.
The output of the study is an overview of potential landscape measures that reduce the risk of flooding. The study also includes an estimate of the implementation costs and a recommendation for a suitable grant. The participating municipalities are rewarded with an insurance policy benefits, based on the landscape measures they implement. Other partners are gradually joining the programme, contributing their expertise to each stage of the process. One of the biggest obstacles is the communication of the measures in the municipalities, which the Partnership Foundation helps with. As up to 90 % of the measures are eligible for grants, municipalities can take advantage of ERSTE Grantika's discounted grant advice.
Responsible business
To us, responsibility in business means transparency in relation to all stakeholders, ethical conduct comporting with a code of ethics, and investment in opportunities that are effective not only financially, but also socially and environmentally.
Supporting social entrepreneurship
We have made a long-term effort to support social entrepreneurship, in particular by assigning as many corporate contracts as possible to companies that are responsible, for example by employing people with disabilities. We do this either by working directly with them on various projects, or within the supply chain, where we try to use as many companies as possible with alternative fulfilment.
Mezi řádky/Between the Lines café
Since 2021, we have a café Mezi řádky run by Etincelle (a group of social enterprises that helps people with disabilities to enter the labour market) in our Headquarters in Karlín. Our baristas are people with intellectual or combined disabilities who want to join the workforce and show us that they are useful to themselves and others. This brings the world of able-bodied people and people with different limitations together in our café every day. The café is not only open to employees but also to the public.
Managing outstanding insurance premiums
Kooperativa has a robust solution which, based on the knowledge of clients' needs, can offer an optimal variant of client communication. The goal is to provide clients with a high level of comfort in servicing outstanding premiums with an emphasis on building long-term, mutually beneficial contractual relationships. It also includes elements of preventive and follow-up assistance to clients in the event of their temporary economic instability.

Compliance training

We are committed to employee development at all times. We focus not only on their professional competencies, but also on their business skills and mastery of working from home. We have also offered courses to develop their digital literacy with an emphasis on cyber security, data protection and secure communication and information sharing. Training is delivered in all formats online and live.

Employee education also includes a preventive function, in particular awareness of corporate crime and corruption prevention. In this context, a new programme prepared by the Compliance Department titled "To stay out of trouble - how not to get yourself and the company into trouble" was launched in 2021. What are the consequences of the decisions we make or, conversely, fail to make? The course just mentioned answered that question. Employees were introduced to the topics of corruption, whistleblowing and fraud, international sanctions and basic information on economic crime and competition law. Employees are guided through the topics via practical model situations where they can experience first-hand what it is like to take decisions as a board member, marketing or procurement officer.
Idea of the Year
In 2022, we were also partners of the Vodafone Idea of the Year competition. The first prize this year went to Carebot, which uses its artificial intelligence to help doctors with diagnoses. Second place went to the Talkbase platform for managers, and third place went to the interactive textbook Vividbooks. In the Kooperativa's special category, Safety has the Green Light, the winner was the Adbian project, a tool for arborists to calculate tree stability, which leads to a longer life for trees and increased safety in their surroundings.

Being part of the Idea of the Year jury is a matter of the heart for me. I enjoy seeing how many smart people we have here in Czechia, how many can make it abroad and how many can build a really prosperous company. I hope we have made a wise decision. The special #bezpecnostmazelenou/#greenlightforsafety award from Kooperativa went to the Adbian project. I believe that thanks to them, the streets will be a little safer, and there will be no unnecessary cutting down of trees,” said Jindřich Skrip, Marketing Director.
The initiative called Inno Days was created in 2019 as one of the activities supporting the innovative culture in VIG CZ companies. We want to inform about trends, inspire but also encourage discussion and thinking and thus support the courage to innovate.
The target group of Inno Days is primarily all employees, but also our key partners. The record attendance so far is almost 700 spectators.
In 2022, three Inno Days were held at once. This time, we focused on inspiration from selected foreign insurers - their response to the advent of electromobility, their approach to insurance for the sharing economy or insurance for young drivers.
Thanks to the Inno Days, we made contact with a number of companies with interesting and promising solutions, and in several cases, we started pilot cooperation.

ECOLOGY AND SUSTAINABILITY

When we talk about sustainability, we are not only referring to the sustainability of natural resources and environmental impact, but we have also long focused on sustainability values such as fairness, transparency and compliance with European and domestic regulatory conditions.

When we talk about sustainability, we are not only referring to the sustainability of natural resources and environmental impact, but we have also long focused on sustainability values such as fairness, transparency and compliance with European and domestic regulatory conditions.

Ecology

Although we are not a manufacturing company that directly harms the environment through our activities, our impact on our surroundings is important to us and we have long sought to minimise our negative impact, whether through the operation of our buildings, vehicles or the activities of our employees. We seek sustainable ecological solutions in many areas, in particular focusing on the ecological management of our buildings, the use of IT technology, as well as the use of flood maps in property insurance and the use of electronic communication instead of paper.
Carbon footprint
Cooperation with Rekola
Carbon footprint
Since 2018, we have had our carbon footprint measured. This data tells us how much greenhouse gases Kooperativa emits directly and indirectly into the environment. We measure our carbon footprint according to the internationally recognised GHG Protocol standard.
We have had the carbon footprint for 2022 processed in an auditable way, which ensures complete transparency of the results and the possibility of further verification. The entire process includes thorough documentation of all input data, calculation procedures and emission factors, as well as final recommendations.
2018: 2 electric vehicles, 2 hybrid vehicles
2022: 5 electric vehicles, 12 hybrid vehicles
The impact of our activities on CO2 production
In 2022, Kooperativa produced 14,421 t of CO2e
Emissions are divided into

Scope 1
(emissions from transport and heating)

Scope 2
(emissions from purchased electrical and thermal energy)

Scope 3
(emissions from purchase of materials and services, purchase of capital goods, indirect emissions from scope 1 and 2, waste from the company's activities, employee business trips, employee commuting to work, leasing and purchase of materials and services)

Based on the calculation of the carbon footprint, we will further deal with the correct setting of the decarbonization strategy with a primary focus on reducing fuel consumption and energy issues.

Emission factor = a constatnt that converts consumtion units into greenhouse gas emissions

Cooperation with Rekola
Since 2020, we have been working with Rekola to promote a greener mode of transport in the form of bike sharing. Our employees in Prague, Brno, Olomouc and České Budějovice can use Rekola for their private journeys free of charge.

The popularity of bike sharing is growing year on year, with almost two thousand rides in 2022.

Electronics
Remobil
Electronics
We use discarded but still functional IT equipment in several ways. Firstly, we offer it to our employees for purchase, and we also donate some of the discarded equipment to schools, non-profit organizations or orphanages. In 2022, we donated a total of 28 laptops to the non-profit organisation Člověk v tísni/People in Need. We hand over non-functioning IT equipment to the REMA collective system, which takes care of the professional disposal and recycling of electrical equipment. This ensures that the components from these devices get back into circulation.
Remobil
In 2021, we teamed up with Remobil, a non-profit organisation that helps collect old and unwanted mobile phones. In 2022, we built on this successful cooperation and placed collection bins at Kooperativa's Headquarters in Karlín where not only employees but also our clients could hand in their unwanted mobile phones. For each device Remobil contributed CZK 10 to the Ondrášek Mobile Hospice and the Kooperativa Foundation was not left behind, doubling the amount. In 2021 and 2022, thanks to Remobil, Kooperativa saved more than 60,000 litres of water and did not discharge more than 3,000 kilograms of Eq. CO2 and 204 hours of work were made possible for people with disabilities.

Sustainability

From our point of view, sustainability is not only related to the environment or the changes caused by the climate crisis. We see the environmental context in terms of products, employee training and client education. We also strive for sustainability in the areas of finance, investments and our communication with clients. We carefully address all regulations, monitor the latest developments in legislation and comply with all requirements.

Sustainable finance and investment

In 2021, in accordance with EU Regulation 2019/2088, we published information on sustainability in financial services on our website, which we update regularly in accordance with current legislation. In the long term, Kooperativa is guided by the VIG Investment and Risk Strategy, which defines investment options, including the environmental and moral aspects of the investments in question.
You will also find what percentage of general insurance premiums we receive from insurance services that can be useful in this way. We refer to such premiums as eligible for the taxonomy under EU Regulation 2020/852, the so-called taxonomy.

The way Kooperativa handles its assets can also have an impact on the environment. Below we provide information on what part of Kooperativa's assets could contribute to climate change adaptation or mitigation. We refer to such assets as eligible for a taxonomy under EU Regulation 2020/852, the so-called taxonomy.

The Green Product
When creating the new FLEXI 21 life insurance product, we also thought about the sustainability of our financial services. Under the investment option of the insurance, it is possible to invest in ERSTE RESPONSIBLE BOND or ERSTE WWF STOCK ENVIRONMENT green funds, in accordance with Articles 8 and 9 of the EU Regulation 2019/2088. Our customers can thus choose an investment method that is environmentally friendly and fair to society, or even directly contributes to their protection.

DIVERSITY AND FLEXIBILITY IN RELATION TO EMPLOYEES

No matter how challenging the times get, our primary focus is to be an employer that consistently honors all aspects of diversity and demonstrates this in our day-to-day operations. We strive to live up to our ambition to be an employer of choice, while at the same time being a company that prides itself on the loyalty of its male and female employees of all ages.
Also in 2022, we have made sure to offer our people the widest possible range of flexible working arrangements, while keeping in mind the mental and physical health and lifestyle of our colleagues. As 2022 has shown the need to help others, we have focused on engaging employees in volunteer activities, fundraising and material collections, but also on how to take care of your mental health in difficult times. Several seminars have been held for employees and a corporate psychologist has been working at Kooperativa for a long time.

Elisabeth Stadler, CEO of VIG Group, spoke at the 2022 Women Managers Club meeting and shared her career and life experiences with other club members.
SEN Club
We remain in regular contact with more than 500 former colleagues even after their retirement. We organise joint meetings for them, where we inform them about new developments in the insurance company, share the know-how of our former colleagues and enjoy a joint cultural programme. Care for employees

Throughout the year, we have been mindful of the increased levels of stress that many of our colleagues have faced, and of mental health. Among the most followed topics were those facilitating work-life balance or focusing on mental hygiene. The traditional Health Days were also held in the spring, where employees were introduced to the principles of healthy eating and had the opportunity to have their eyes examined at the Headquarters in Karlín.
Yoga

In 2022, after a covid break, we returned to live yoga classes for employees at the Kooperativa Headquarters in Karlín and the Prague Agency. Kooperativa Foundation

The Kooperativa Foundation has long stood behind its partners so that they find the necessary confidence in us and focus on their mission. We support projects that promote society-wide systemic change. We place great emphasis on prevention, especially in the area of mental health, as well as on the elderly and people with disabilities. Our employees are an important part of this and actively participate in activities in all areas.

Cooperation and partnership

All activities would not be possible without the support of our partners from the non-profit sector. They help us to understand the problems of the less fortunate. They also give us the tools and opportunities to support individuals, their entire families and prevent further difficulties.

We want people with disabilities to be able to live free and fulfilled lives, which is why we support organizations like Asistence/Assistance, Silou hlasu/The Power of Voice and Pomocné tlapky/Helping Paws. Our prevention project in the field of supporting people with disabilities is BanalFatal!, a programme of the Czech Paraplegic Association. In the field of mental health, we cooperate with the Don’t Let Go of the Soul organisation, which also deals with prevention.

We are a partner of Pátý stupeň. The current four-tier care allowance system, which provides only 5 hours of assistance per day, is inadequate. It leaves people with the most severe disabilities to live in institutions.

To better understand the impact on their lives, in 2022 we paid 5 Assistance clients as much help as they actually needed. We will use this data to promote a fifth individualised level of care allowance.

We support Silou hlasu, which helps people with limited mobility to learn how to use a computer using their voice. In 2022, a total of 22 clients were trained and can be a little more independent again thanks to controlling a PC by voice. Voice technology can be used not only to control a computer, but also to control a home, as evidenced by a sample apartment in Prague that we helped to retrofit.

Pomocné tlapky, an organization for training assistance dogs, has been supported by Kooperativa for a long time. During 2022, 5 assistance dogs were trained, a new feature was the training of dogs for hypoglycemia. Last year also saw 2 Canis therapeutic weekend meetings and 20 lectures for schools.

Seemingly trivial injuries can have fatal consequences. We are a partner of the BanalFatal! program to prevent spinal cord injuries. The program will give you more insight into the video by rapper Raeg, which shows the authentic story of wheelchair user Jarda, a BanalFatal! Instructor. The program of the Czech Paraplegic Association focuses on the prevention of risky behaviour.

Last year, 4,600 people attended 106 lectures in secondary schools.

We are not afraid to talk about mental health. Together with Nevypusť duši, we bring prevention to mental health care. Throughout the year, we have supported several projects such as Mental Health for High School Students, How Not to Let Go of Your Soul workshops in college, Background for the Soul – a comprehensive program that focuses on mental health for male and female students, and other programs for the public and high schools. We do not forget about our employees either, for whom we offer mental health workshops.
We have become a major partner of the non-profit organization AlzheimerChain, which developed the mobile app Terrapino in 2022 thanks to our support. The smart app is used for both early diagnosis and prevention of Alzheimer's disease – it can inform, motivate and reward a healthy lifestyle. It treats users individually and answers questions related to diagnosis and treatment. In the future, we plan to develop other activities within the framework of this cooperation.

Open and closed grants

The Foundation launches grant competitions every year, but due to the situation in Ukraine in 2022, we have supported the Via Foundation's grant "From Ukraine among us".

Involvement of our employees

Kooperativa employees have played an important role in our efforts to help those in need. This year, they have been actively involved in helping others in Prague and the regions through volunteer days (Day for a Better Life) and material and financial collections. The Foundation rewards each such effort in the form of financial collections by doubling the amount raised.

Day for a Better Life

Each employee has the opportunity to take one volunteer day per year. In 2022, a total of 896 colleagues donated their Day for a Better Life to non-profit organisations caring for the environment, social care providers for people with disabilities, children or seniors, as well as those active in the community life of small municipalities or townships.

We are well aware that life's dramas do not happen outside our world, which is why we are there in case of difficult life situations not only for non-profit organizations and their clients, but also for all employees and their loved ones through the Fund for a Better Life.

This was just a small list of the more than 100 paintings on display from the Kooperativa’s collection and from private lenders, depicting landscapes with water.

Support in the regions: South Moravia Agency

Each year, we select one regional agency to feature in the Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability Report. In this year's report, we present the activities of the South Moravia Agency, whose enthusiasm for responsible issues inspires colleagues from other regions.

Joint blood donation The South Moravia Agency organised a joint blood donation. Volunteers from among our employees gathered at the Transfusion and Tissue Department of the University Hospital Brno. We appreciate all the volunteers who left not only with a good feeling, but also with the knowledge that they may have saved someone's life.

Křenka runs for life After a successful first year of our charity run, we ran for life again in 2022. We raised over 50 thousand CZK for seven-year-old Kubíček, who has been suffering from Shwachman-Diamond syndrome since birth. The amount which was doubled by the Kooperativa Foundation will enable Kubíček to receive therapy to improve his overall health, especially his brain function.

The Good Neighbour Collection As part of the Good Neighbour initiative, we announced a collection for the survivors of Kajka, who died suddenly. The proceeds of the collection will fulfill Kajka's dream – building an attic with rooms for her children, with sanitary facilities and a new staircase. The children will grow up in dignity with the opportunity to prepare for life and support their father. The proceeds of the collection, which amounted to CZK 141,300, were supported by the Kooperativa Foundation with a donation of CZK 50,000.

At the zoo with Koop In cooperation with the Brno Zoo, we again prepared a day with a programme for children. In addition to getting to know the animals, we prepared stations for children focused on safety, where we taught them how to move safely on the street and on a bicycle, the basics of first aid or the principles of a healthy lifestyle. In addition, we also educated them in a fun way about the importance of insurance.

Tree for a Better Life at the South Moravia Agency This year, as part of the Tree for a Better Life project, the South Moravia Agency supported the children's hospice House for Julia, which helps families with terminally ill children and adolescents.
